The Mazal Story

Mazal Isn't Just a Name.
It's a Legacy.

Grandma Mazal lived in the heart of Tiberias, along the shores of the Sea of Galilee - a place rich with history, tradition, and generations of shared meals. Her door was always open. Family, neighbors, and close friends always found their way to her table. And there was always enough.

The kitchen was the center of everything. Cumin, tahini, slow-cooked dishes, and trays of handmade pastries filled the air. Pots were always on the stove. Something was always baking. Together with Grandpa Shimon, Mazal built more than a bakery - they created a place people truly relied on. Their confectionery became part of the city's life, where celebrations, holidays, and everyday moments were marked with something made by hand.

Back home, the energy never stopped. Four living rooms, always full. Seven children. Constant gatherings. Feeding a family like that takes more than skill. It takes heart. Mazal had it.

Brothers Gal & Tal Alhadef brought that same spirit to West Ashley's Magnolia Park, just minutes from Avondale, Downtown Charleston, James Island, and the Citadel Mall. The shawarma slow-roasts on a real vertical spit. The falafel is fried to order. The hummus is ground fresh in-house every morning.

No shortcuts. Only tradition, skill, and heart.

When we opened this restaurant, there was only one name that made sense. MAZAL. Today, we continue her way - fresh food, made daily, with care and intention. Because great food doesn't just feed you. It brings people together.

And at Mazal, you're always welcome at the table.

"Phenomenal first experience at Mazal. We got the chicken hummus and the lamb/brisket shawarma. Both EXCELLENT. Creamiest, yummiest hummus I have ever had. The chicken was incredibly juicy and the meat had very authentic seasoning. Will return weekly."
